Håkon Daniel Nystedt er årets festivaldirigent. Han er ei stigande stjerne blant norske kordirigentar. Nystedt har vore kunstnarleg leiar for Det Norske Kammerkor sidan 2005. Han er ein ettertrakta dirigent som har vorte engasjert både i utlandet og innanlands. Nystedt studerte dirigering under Grete Pedersen og Ole Kristian Ruud på Norges Musikkhøgskole før han i 2009 fekk plass på soliststudiet i orkesterdirigering i København. På Kammermusikkfestivalen dirigerer han festivalkoret.
In 2015, the Norwegian conductor Håkon Daniel Nystedt conducted a concert in Carnegie Hall, New York, with a festival orchestra and chorus, and had reengagements with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. The year also included several other engagements, among others in South Korea.
The year 2016 began with his first engagement with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
He has conducted, among others, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Tromsø Symphony Orchestra and Sønderjylland Symphony Orchestra.
Håkon Nystedt played the piano and the violin from an early age. He studied orchestral conducting at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Ole Kristian Ruud, and at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory with Giordano Bellincampi, Giancarlo Andretta and Michael Schönwandt. He was awarded a debut year, reserved for especially talented students. His debut concert in 2013 with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, conducting Brahms’ 4th symphony and opera excerpts, was a great success.
He has conducted productions of Mozart’s The Wedding of Figaro and Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, and has been conducting a wide range of opera excerpts.
Håkon Nystedt was awarded the prize of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra after his performance of Dvorák’s Requiem mass. The concert was broadcasted on Norwegian national TV, and his concert with the same orchestra in 2015 will be broadcasted the 20th of March 2015.
He has received several scholarships and donations, among others from Ludvig Schytte and wife’s grant.
In April 2016, Håkon Nystedt will participate in a masterclass with Herbert Blomstedt, in connection with the old maestro receiving the Léonie Sonning Prize. Three young talented conductors are selected to this masterclass with the Danish Radio Orchestra.
